Red Flags During Hiring
Keep an eye out for warning signs in interviews or trial periods. These can signal potential discord down the line:
Constant job switching: For example, "2 months here, 3 months there." Frequent hopping might indicate an inability to commit or underlying issues.
Bad-mouthing previous employers: If they speak poorly of past families, it raises concern. How someone describes past relationships often predicts future ones.
No questions or curiosity: A lack of questions could mean low engagement or interest. (Curious candidates are often more eager to learn and adjust.)
Disregard for routines/structure: If they seem uninterested in understanding your way of doing things, they may struggle to adapt or respect your household's systems.
These red flags don't mean an automatic "no," but they do mean proceed with caution and dig deeper. Better to address concerns upfront (for example, "I notice you changed jobs quite a bit — can you tell me why?") than to ignore them and be surprised later.
